1955 - 2016

At the end of December 2016, we heard the sad news of the death of our friend and colleague Roger Leiner.

Roger Leiner was born on 2 February 1955 in Wiltz. He went to primary and secondary school in Diekirch. After having graduated, he enrolled at the Strasbourg University for Human Studies in plasic art. Between 1979 and 1986, he worked as a civil servant in the Ministry for Economic Affairs. Now and then, Roger made drawings for various occasions and when he noticed that his products were well accepted, he decided to become self-employed. He found support with his friend Lucien Czuga and together they created the emblematic figure of Superjhemp. Between Mai 1984 and 1986, Luxembourg was shocked by a series of bomb attacks never undeceived and it was clear, that the first of Superjhemp was against the bomber (De Superjhemp géint de Bommeléer). The BD was published on a weekly base in a magazine called Revue and was an immediate success. In the following years, Roger’s oeuvre has grown in a spectacular way including other BD Series, cartoons, portraits, posters, stickers, postcards, illustrations, etc. There are lots of information on Roger’s homepage.

Roger was married and father of three children. He lived and worked in Rollingen/Mersch in Luxembourg.
