*1950, Schifflange

Robert Soisson was born on 11 November 1950 in Schifflange. After graduating high school in Esch-sur-Alzette, he enrolled in Heidelberg University to study psychology. Up to retirement, he worked as a psychologist in a child guidance centre in the town of Esch-sur-Alzette. He joined numerous NGOs on a national and international level dealing with children’s rights, care work and inclusive schools. He is married and father of a son and a daughter.

Robert’s first caricatures appeared in the very popular Roud Wullmaus and in various left-wing student publications in Luxembourg and Heidelberg. He was inspired by cartoonists like Gotlib, Franquin, Cabu, Reiser, Crumb and Siné. Later, he illustrated publications dealing with social end educative matters like the Erzieherzeitung (ÖTV); some caricatures were also published in Psychologie Heute. He designed numerous posters for various events and illustrated brochures for the Ministry of Family Affairs, Action Locale pour Jeunes, Action Benjamin, Centre de Médiation, etc. In forum, he contributed with articles und illustrated other contributions. The Schueberfouer poster competition brought him once a second and once a third price. In partici- pating in the Kiischpelter Cartoonale, he came in contact with the founders and later members of CartoonArt. Together with Roger Leiner, he published as a scriptwriter two comic albums dealing with children’s rights: Décke Gas an der Kromheck and Ech och!

In 2015, he is elected President of CartoonArt with the firm intention to bring to an end the present project, to develop the activities of the association and, why not, get back to the drawing desk again.
